Beckham Meets Bush.

29 06 2007

So Adidas has this new campaign out where Futbol meets Football. And in the futbol corner is David “FINE ASS” Beckham, aka Mr. Rowena’s Man. And in the Football corner is the man who played alongside my OTHER man, Matt Leinart, Reggie Bush who plays in the NFL for the New Orleans Saints.

Reggie Bush was on my Morning News Show yesterday talking about this and so I wanted to blog about this yesterday but well, yesterday had enough posts with all the Thursday Thirteen business going on, so I saved Eye Candy Friday Day (well when I actually do it!) for David Beckham and Reggie Bush.

Man, but Reggie Bush is a handsome guy. I was totally admiring him while I was getting dressed for work. He’s so solid and strong and has those striking looks that makes you look twice, ya know? I’ve got to be honest though, when I was watching Reggie on KTLA yesterday, I was more interested in the clips of David Beckham. I mean, ya’ll know that I love me some David Beckham. I must have watched these damn clips on Youtube twenty million times just to hear his high pitch British accent.

He’s really hot, you guys..seriously, check out these pictures that I stole from David Beckham Zone.

Didn’t I tell you he was hot? Now, I’ve been hearing conflicting rumors about when he’ll be starting with The L.A. Galaxy and I’ve been dying to find out the exact date because I hear 9/1 (and if that’s true then OH HELL NO!) and lately I’ve been hearing that he will making an appearance as soon as 7/21, which isn’t too far away at all. And I really think he’s going to make it to this game since it’s a friendly type game with Chelsea, the likes of which his homie gee loccs will be in attendance, like Joe Cole, Frank Lampard, well if they still play for Chelsea, I couldn’t be arsed to check because well, even though I love me some Frank and Joe, they’re not Becks. LOL.

So as of right now, I’ve got my fingers crossed for July 21st, but who knows…I know that Becks has a scheduled press conference for 7/13, which is just next week so woo hoo…BRING ON THE BECKS! On David Beckham Zone, it says that Becks is ending his family holiday soon to come and help the Galaxy out because seriously, they need it…they’ve been sucking it up all season long and need all the help they can get. Now if they suck in the MLS, can you just imagine how sucky they are compared to Becks old team, Real Madrid and then Manchester United?

*cringe*

I don’t even want to think about it…but dude, check out a video I found on Youtube which features Becks and Bush swapping sports for a day…very entertaining, well for lovers of David Beckham (like myself) and Reggie Bush…check it out.

JUST LOVE HIM!

…My Favorite Foods.

I’m Samoan and one thing Samoans love is…food. And so this week, I’m goign to be listing my favorite foods because well, I’m hungry right now and I’m waiting for lunch time to come around so that Mulu will finally get here and we can go and do the damn thing and eat already…sheesh.

Here are some of the things that I absolutely love and hope to be eating during lunch time.

1. Spam Musubi.

This is spam, rice and a dash of teriyaki sauce wrapped in some seaweed. It’s the bomb, I remember when Maui Boy was open down the street from my house, that was where we got our spam musubi from but then they went out of business and we didn’t get any spam musubi for a while, but then…The Loft opened up and even though their spam musubi isn’t as good as Maui Boys, it’s still friggin’ fantastic!

2. Cabbage and Pisupo.

When I was little, one of my favorite things to eat was my Dad’s cabbage and pisupo, pisupo is Samoan for canned corned beef. But it’s gotta be the cans from New Zealand, the one with the ox on it or the one with the crown on it, those are the best canned corn beef, ooh wee, especially if you cook it up with some cabbage, takes me right back to when I was little and my Dad would make that for the mid week meal, I wish he still made it…I loved that stuff!

3. PankekeSamoan Pancakes.

I can’t find a picture of these things but trust me, they’re the bomb! My friend Theresa, her Mom makes the best Samoan pancakes. They’re not your regular pancakes that you see in IHOP. They’re balls of dough fried in oil. It’s the bomb when it’s piping hot fresh from the pot, I eat them just with a cup of palagi cocoa (regular hot chocolate), I can’t get down with the Samoan cocoa, ask my friends. But Theresa’s mom makes them all special, she doesn’t use a spoon to scoop the dough into the pot, she uses her hand and squeezes the dough out from her one hand and it’s a technique that nobody can duplicate but she makes perfect round balls and man, I just love them! Brings back memories of my childhood…

4. Theresa’s Grandma’s Chop Suey.

Oh man, this old lady can cook. There’s nobody on God’s green earth that can make a better chop suey than Sis. Niko. It’s my absolute favorite and Theresa knows to save me a plate of Chop Suey when they’re serving it for dinner at her house. It’s that good.

5. My Dad’s Coco Rice.

I guess a lot of my favorite foods are Samoan goodies because this another one. My Dad used to make coco rice for me and my younger brother, Pete when we were little and on the mornings that we would wake up to smell coco rice being made, me and Pete would make sure we were at the table before it was time to leave for school, because my Dad’s cocorice is so the bomb. And it really is just coco and rice, but blended together with some coconut milk and it’s just the frickin’ best breakfast, fit for Kings…haha.

6. Peach Cobbler.

I don’t remember when the first time I had peach cobbler but I do remember the first time I ever made peach cobbler. It was for Thanksgiving in ’04 I think it was and man it’s been my favorite dessert ever since. I’m not even a big fan of pies but man, I can get down with some peach cobbler, warm peach cobbler with vanilla ice cream? Yeah, now that’s what I’m talking about…they also got good peach cobbler at the #1 Samoan hot spot….Hometown Buffet. LOL.

7. My Maui Wowie Cake.

This is a trifle thing that I make a lot and is really popular among my friends and family. A few summers ago, I sold Maui Wowie Trifles and they were our best sellers for the fundraiser that we were doing at Church. It’s a layer of chocolate cake, a layer of chocolate pudding, a layer of cool whip, then a layer of toffee bites sprinkles and then another layer of chocolate cake and you just repeat until you get to the top. It’s great stuff and I’m making it this weekend for Break the Fast and I can’t wait cause I already want some. This is a picture of what it kind of looks like but mine are way prettier…but yeah well, you get the picture right?

8. Ceviche.

Is that how you spell it? We make our own version of this without the fresh fish in the mix but man, I can eat an entire container of my sister’s ceviche, this crap is the bomb! It’s a punk to make but when it’s all done and you’ve got everything cut and you’re putting it on the tostada thing, HEAVEN, especially in the hot summer! Nobody has a picture that’s close to my family ceviche so I’m leaving this one pictureless, sorry.

9. Blanche’s Chicken Divan.

This is another family favorite. My sister Blanche never fails to frickin’ make the best Chicken Divan, a lot of people have their own spins on this recipe but my favorite of the bunch is Blanches, not that I don’t enjoy the other ones, I love this thing however its made but Blanche has a unique way of twisting a recipe and making it so much better. This is one of them. I was surprised to see that on Brenna’s ME book for school, she listed Chicken Divan as her favorite food, she even spelled it right too. haha.

10. Chinese Chicken Salad.

I love this crap. It’s my absolute favorite salad, EVER! I can get down on this salad, not only can I make it the bomb but I love to eat it from the store too…my favorite spot that makes great Chinese Chicken Salad is Rascals it’s just great great stuff! My Mom used to make this and my sisters have perfected her recipe and want to keep the recipe in the family, the recipe we use for the dressing my Mom thinks it’s HER recipe but dude, it’s SO NOT, its her recipe PERFECTED! LOL.

11. Lilocc’s Robert Redford.

Theresa’s Aunt, Lilo makes the best Robert Redford. I don’t have a picture of this but man it’s the bomb. It’s a crust, pudding, cream cheese mixture fantabulous dessert that we absolutely LOVE, I wonder if we can get Lilo to make it this weekend…Therese, hook it up won’t you?

12. Roro’s Moms Chocolate Cake.

Our friend Jessica (we call her Roro because her last name is Rowland and there’s 2 Jessica’s at Church) brings this cake to Church sometimes and it’s so frickin’ good, it’s no joke. It’s rich and light at the same time and man, it’s the bomb. She brought it last night to our Enrichment Night and it was so hot damn good. I’m gonna ask her for the recipe. We like to fight over the last of it so that we can take home. Last night was a fight against Mulu and Theresa…Theresa won. LOL.

13. Bishop Mataalii’s Barbeque Ribs.

Alright, this man isn’t the best cook AT ALL but the man knows his ribs. They’re always tender and smothered in the best barbeque sauce mix I’ve ever tasted…I actually prefer Bishop’s ribs to the ribs at Lucille’s and that’s saying something..this guy can’t make Chop Suey to save his life but his ribs? OUT OF THIS WORLD!

Alright, there it is…my favorite foods. What did you guys do for this week’s Thursday Thirteen?

I Hate Seeing Stuff Like This…

27 06 2007

…about my favorite celebrities.

Fresh after getting snubbed from Jordyn Sparks, for me to be doing my daily bloghop and stumble across something like this makes me mad. I don’t want to read that Justin Timberlake, my love, my heart (HA!) being a big asshole (that’s probably the reason my blog is rated NC-17) to FANS. Do they not know that it is those fans that make it possible for them to drink those endless bottles of Dom? It’s the fans that make them the big stars that they are and for them to act like this pisses me off.

I mean, I can see being annoyed with the paparazzi because they be all up in your grill but to regular fans who just want to take a picture with a favorite celebrity? Goodness, what’s up with all the snobbyness?

I mean, I saw this first hand with Jordyn Sparks and to think that I spent that last night of voting, VOTING FOR HER to win out over Blake and to see her all snobby like toward me and Mulu made us not like her anymore and then to come on the computer and see that Justin Timberlake, the man that I’ve loved since I was frickin’ 14 years old and was so loyal to behave in this manner to fans makes me just a little bit pissed off at him.

Ugh…check this out:

Earlier that day, a little girl asked him if she could take a picture of him, and he responded: “You want me to juggle also?”

This is not the JT that I pictured after all these years of loving the hell out of him…goodness, I hope it’s not true.

Have You Ever…

25 06 2007

…wanted something for your friend so bad that you could feel it all the way to your toes?

I have a friend that I’ve become really close to in the past couple of months. We’re not the best of friends but I really care about him and his life choices. I’ve known him my whole life and he’s such a good guy and he loves both me and Brenna dearly. He’s in a relationship right now, but it’s a long distance relationship and really, I don’t think he loves this woman as much as he thinks he does because it’s so easy for him to see himself with other women and so easy for him to talk about dating other women.

No, I don’t like him for myself but I do like him for another one of my friends. A friend of mine who hasn’t had the best of luck when it comes to relationships. She just got out of a relationship that has taken a lot out of her and I’m really hoping that she can bounce back from all of this. She’s a really special person and she’s one of those friends that you would do just about anything for because she’s just that great.

She’s perfect for my friend and I think he knows it but he’s holding on to his love for his girlfriend that lives in a different state. Why? I have no idea. It’s not that I don’t like his girlfriend, I don’t know her so I don’t have anything against her but I’m just realistic in that I don’t think his relationship will last if they’re living in different states, he’s much too physical to keep something like that up for very long, so I’m thinking hey, my friend is perfect for you, you like her, what’s the problem?

I think he’s very interested in my friend, he wants to take her out on a date but he’s very wishy washy, I wish he’d make up his mind and just be with her. He’s totally okay with taking her out on a date and just hanging out but I know that should he take her out, there’s going to be a whole more than, “I just want to be her friend” but he’s going to chicken out and not ask her out.

And that’s what I really want for him, too bad he’s so confused about what he wants, my friend deserves more than a confused suitor but man, I wish he’d stop talking about it and just be about it already.

There really isn’t a point to this little rant, I just wanted to rant about it because they’re so perfect for each other and they don’t see it…

*sigh*

ELLIOTT YAMIN ROCKS MY SOCKS!

22 06 2007

You’ll have to forgive me if I sound like a major fan girl right now because last night I pretty much felt like one and I don’t give a damn, the concert was totally off the hook. For the last week or so, the best friend Mulu and I have been bugging our friend, Nathan who works at the House of Blues in Anaheim if he can get us tickets to see Elliott Yamin, one of our boys from American Idol. The concert was last night and he called Mulu to tell her that he got us in.

And he was not lying when he said that he got us in because when I say, got us in, he did more than that. You see, we were supposed to meet him out front at 7pm but in true Wena and Mulu fashion, we got there at 8:30pm which in a large part was due to the fact that we had to make an appearance at my mini me’s graduation from middle school, she graduated from 8th grade yesterday and will be starting her high school years in September. So anyway, we left the graduation at about 7pm after getting the call from Nathan that he was finally able to snare some tickets for us.

We got to the House of Blues and parking was unbelievable. There was not ONE single parking space in the whole parking lot and we had to stoop down to following couples that were walking to their cars and asking them if we can have their parking spots when they leave. After finally getting a parking space, Mulu changed from her work clothes into a pair of jeans with her babydoll dress and her ballerina slippers and we were off to the concert.

Once we reached the House of Blues, we noticed that there was a long line in front of the doors leading up to where the concert was being held. You can hear music blaring inside and figured it was the opening act, some guy named Josh Hoge. I don’t know who he is or what kind of music he played because we didn’t see him perform at all. We were too busy looking for Nathan, who had our tickets. After being made to look really stupid in front of the people who were standing in line and being checked out and what not, we were escorted to the side of the building to the door that Nasty Nate was working.

He shook his head when he saw us, looking at his watch, letting us know just how late we were in meeting him. When we told him what happened and he told us what happened with the other girls he gave tickets too, telling us that he was pissed off because our other friend that he gave tickets too was trying to bring in some chick that he couldn’t stand so he sent them back out to the line outside and told them he could only get 3 tickets and made the girl he can’t stand buy her own ticket outside.

I was rollin’.

So anyway, after chatting for a few minutes with him, he led us to the club from the back, we saw the backstage where Elliott and the band were setting up for the concert but we couldn’t go up there because well, we weren’t that kind of VIP. LOL. So anyway, Nate escorts us to the club through the back door and when we get into the club, bypassed the lines and what not, we’re standing directly to the right of the stage, stage left to him and it was an intimate setting because the club isn’t that big and the stage was pretty close, so we had great seats, our friend Chris (Nate’s sisters boyfriend) was manning the bar for a bit and he let us sit on the bar which gave us hella great seats in the house.

And then Elliott came onstage.

The boy is even better live than he was on TV during last season’s American Idol. He sang song after song from his album and he just rocked the hell out of the stage and the crowd. He’s a great entertainer and I was so hecka glad that we went to the concert because man, Elliott can blow!

But what made me feel bad for Elliott was Chris Richardson stole his thunder…atleast for me and Mulu.

You see, Elliott was talking about this little show he used to be on, called, American Idol and he wanted to give a shout out to the last season’s finalists who were in the house tonight and the spotlight was immediately shone to the balcony right across from us, when….CHRIS FRICKIN RICHARDSON was sitting right next to Jordyn Sparks.

Idols in attendance was, Phil Stacy, Brandon Rogers, this year’s winner Jordyn Sparks and my favorite Idol of the season, CHRIS FRICKIN RICHARDSON! Now that was something me and Mulu got VERY excited about! Throughout the show, I was distracted because I kept looking up because like a tweeny bopper fangirl, I was so excited to be in the same room with CHRIS FRICKIN RICHARDSON! haha.

I know, pathetic, huh? But still, HE WAS THERE YA’LL…I was more excited about seeing him there and seeing him get down to Elliott on stage. Soon into the show though, it was easy to forget that Chris was there because Elliott sang so many songs that had us bobbin’ our heads to the beat and just flat out having a good time too because he looked like he was having so much fun and just entertaining the socks off of me but I did notice toward the end of the show when the Idols got up and started making their way out of the club. I saw Chris leave and was naive enough to think that they were going to go up on stage and sing a few songs with Elliott but *sigh* they didn’t.

Oh well.

After the show was done and over, everyone started filing out but not before Elliott threw his towel into the audience and of all the damn people in the room to catch it, our friend Mindy caught the damn towel. We weren’t sitting/standing with them and we were trying to avoid them since the girl we can’t really stand was with them but they spotted us anyway and came rushing over to throw the towel in our faces to make us jealous. We were kind of jealous but then our luck turned for the better because while we were hanging out with Nathan, who was positioned near the same side door we came in through, ALL OF THE IDOLS passed us by to go to the bathrooms which were located directly across from where we were standing.

Both Mulu and myself were struck dumb at being so hot damn close to them. We were already not paying attention to anything that Nathan’s sister, Tiara was telling us because we were too busy watching Phil and Brandon walk into the ladies room.

We sat there wondering what was over there and was surprised to see Phil Stacy and Brandon Rogers walk toward us. We saw that Brandon Rogers saw us and wanted to come and say hi to us but when they disappeared around the corner we didn’t think that it was going to happen until, it actually did.

Phil and Brandon came walking out and walked right up to us and said hi and then we asked if we can take a picture with them and since my phone didn’t have a flash, we used Mulu’s phone to take our pictures. Tiara, my friend from high school took our pictures and was confused as to why we were getting so excited about a bunch of nobodies as she put it, but we were flushed with excitement!

And while Phil and Brandon were talking to us, telling us that they were going to hang with us for a few, we saw Chris Richardson, the man of our American Idol dreams come walking out of the bathroom flapping his hands in the air trying to dry them and rude ass Mulu rushed toward him, I, on the other hand was too polite to cut Phil Stacy off, I finished listening to him say what a great show Elliott put on, murmured to him, “Hold on, just a second” before I dashed over to Chris Richardson’s side.

Mulu says, “Can I take a picture with you?”

Chris gave her a dirty look and said, “No!” and then quick as lightning, that sexy smile of his spread across his face and he said, “Of course you can!” So I gleefully started toward him and Mulu threw the phone at me and said, “Me first!”

The tramp.

So I took a really cute picture of Mulu and Chris on her phone, then I pushed her out of the way and she took this picture of me and Chris on her phone:

Isn’t it cute? Oh goodness, the guy is frickin’ hot! And so after we took the picture, I told him that I voted for him a whole gang of times and my thoughts and my words were tripping over themselves and he just smiled and thanked us and then I said, “Okay, now we need a picture of the both of us with you, because we’re best friends” and he’s like, “Dude, GREEDY!” and he laughs and I gave him one of my Wena looks and it made him laugh and then he puts his arms around both me and Mulu and I handed the phone to Tiara and he goes, “Ooh, I get two girls!” And me and Mulu were like, *sigh* ing all over him.

LOL.

Then we took this picture:

…and then Jordyn Sparks came out and we wanted to take a picture with her but she didn’t even acknowledge us, she just walked right passed us, Mulu called her and asked if we could take a picture but she didn’t even stop to say hi or anything she just walked right out the door without a glance our way…so whatever, trick…I didn’t care about her any damn way, Chris looked pretty embarrassed but oh well, we were so happy to meet HIM that we blew Jordyn’s snub right off. They all waved at us and Chris said bye to the both of us and then we were left with just, me, Mulu, Nathan and Tiara.

Nathan looked pretty disgusted with us, but we didn’t care. He kept saying, “Dude, what are we in high school again?”

Oh whatever, WE MET CHRIS FRICKIN RICHARDSON!

And it was seriously the best night of the year!

*sorry the pics of Elliott are so small, they’re from my phone and I have no idea how to make them bigger without messing them up.*

Thursday Thirteen….My Favorite Songs…

21 06 2007

…for the Summer.

Summer is here and there are so many great tunes out that have me rockin’ out and just flat out make me want to be out in the sun and getting my tan on. Here’s a list of the songs that I’m listening to this summer…

1. Push the Button by Sugarbabes.

This is me and Mulu’s summer anthem as of right now, this is the song that we’re banging in the car EVERYWHERE we go, even when we’re going to Church. It’s just an upbeat, get your groove on kind of song and is perfect for us. I love it!

2. Freaky in the Club by R Kelly.

This is our new jam, R Kelly always delivers the best get down with your bad self songs that have you groovin’ everywhere you go whether it’s on the dance floor at your favorite club, in your office, in the privacy of your home, it don’t matter, R Kelly knows how to sing a damn song and this one, I hecka love and am going to play out real soon. LOL.

3. Do You Know by Enrique Iglesias.

This song is me and my niece Chelsea’s song. It’s the song that we’re blaring through the house while we clean the house on Saturdays. It’s the song that I know all the words to and that I’m singing in my head when away from my ipod and the song…I just love it to pieces!

4. Big Girls Don’t Cry by Fergie.

Another one of me and Chelsea’s songs. I’m not a big Fergie fan, I’ve enjoyed some of her songs but I don’t own her CD, I don’t really care for her aside from the fact that I care very deeply for her hottie boyfriend, LOL….but this is a good song and I love singing along to it even though I’ve never had a blanket as a kid and I wouldn’t miss a boyfriend more than a blanket.

5. You Give Me Something by James Morrison.

This is a new to me musician that I found on myspace and have enjoyed for a few weeks, I downloaded his CD on Itunes and this gets a lot of playing time because I love Jame’s voice and the song is catchy and just all out fun to sing.

6. Wind for Me by R Kelly, Sean Paul and I think Akon.

I’m already bobbin’ my head while I sing this song in my head, my brother Pete showed me this song and it’s one of my ringtones and I hella love it, I love dancing like Shakira to this song too, it’s so much fun.

7. Little of Your Time by Maroon 5.

This is my song, it’s a good, up beat song that never fails to have me getting all giddy to get my dance on…I just love Adam’s voice too, so damn sexy…I just need a little of your time, a little of your time and it’s very fun to sing along too…

8. She Took the Train by UB40.

This song is my favorite UB40 song, I know UB40 isn’t popular at all and I know quite a few people actually hate these white boy reggae guys but they are popular among the islanders and my family especially…so I grew up listening to them and love them and this song in particular.

9. Pop, Lock and Drop It by Huey.

I sing a part of this song a LOT, so much in fact that my friend Miah already knows what I’m going to say to him before I even say it….”Toot that thang up shorty!” LOL. Great summer song. I so want to learn how to pop, lock and drop it, I don’t think I do it right!

10. Valerie by Amy Winehouse.

This is a lesser known Amy Winehouse song but I do enjoy it quite a bit. It’s very catchy and upbeat and it never fails to bring a smile to my face and a groove to my shoulders, haha. Great summer song.

11. Let it Go by Keisha Cole.

My friend Nicole from work and I have a fight going on between us about which song is going to be the best summer song, she thinks this song by Keisha Cole is going to be the summer song of ’07 but I think it’s going to be the R Kelly song up there, but even though I like the R Kelly song better, I do enjoy this song as well..especially the beginning of the song, “You need to get up something something…” LOL.

12. Annonymous by Bobby Valentino.

Love this song. No seriously, I LOVE THIS SONG. Very poppy and very just great dance material, makes me want to do a sexy jig, I can do the Justin Timberlake My Love dance to this song and that’s why I like it all the more…great great summer song.

13. Over You by Daughtry.

A lot of the songs that I love right now are more R&B and Pop influenced but this song right here, I love to pieces and I listen to it a lot and look forward to listening to it more as the summer breezes by.
