People Who Make Me Think.

17 05 2007

My BBB, Ames over at Thrifty Reader had a post up yesterday about people who make her think.

She tagged me over at this post and I’m shocked because I don’t really have many thought provoking posts up on this blog, as this is just my venting grounds and my gushing place for my tv shows, but I was touched that she included me in her Thinking Blogger thingy.

Here are the rules:

1. If, and only if, you get tagged, write a post with links to 5 blogs that make you think.
2. Link to this post so that people can easily find the exact origin of the meme.
3. Optional: Proudly display the ‘Thinking Blogger Award’ with a link to the post that you wrote.

Alright so on with the people that make me think:

1. Ames, of course. Her blog is a regular hop on my blog hop because her reviews always have me thinking, “Should I get it or not? But Ames liked it, so yeah I think I’m going to put it on the list!” Maybe that’s not a good thing for my bank account but still, it counts. She also had me thinking the other day about my dog, her love for Max reminded me of my youth when I had a dog named Sheba, Sheba is supposed to mean Beautiful in some language, I forget but I remember that raven hair dog that was always sniffing around anyone that came around and she used to make me laugh a lot. I’m always thinking of old times with Sheba when I read about Ame’s Max. Max is adorable!

2. Karen S. This girl loves her some drama. But aside from all of the drama, her posts are thought provoking and she does make a sister sit back and think about things that normally I wouldn’t think about and she makes me laugh all the while she’s making me think…so yeah, Karen makes me think, a lot.

3. Izzy. Alright, Izzy is the shy one in our little book blog. She’s very soft spoken but she’s very funny as well. She’s more low key about the things she makes me think about, she makes me think about the kind of husband I’m going to marry someday, she makes me think about the kinds of people I’m blessed to have in my life and she makes me think about the next time I’m gonna get to say YAMEAN! hehe.

4. Sybil. Sybil makes me think a lot too, it’s always interesting to go and see what Sybil’s blogging about because it’s either making me laugh so hard that I’m spitting my drink out of my nose or it’s like, OH CRAP are you serious kind, but either way, though I don’t comment as often as the others on her blog, I do read her blog pretty regularly now and she never ceases to make me think…about everydamnthing in Romancelandia.

5. Mailyn. Mailyn is a blogger that has me thinking about the animals all the time. She also has me thinking about the kind of world we live in, the kind of movies and music that I’m missing out on too…I always like going over to Mailyn’s blog to read her posts, she’s entertaining and I learn a thing or two as well…there’s nobody quite like Mailyn.

Top 10 Songs When I Turned 18.

10 03 2007

Saw this on Izzy’s blog, so I’m doing it here.

Go to, click on the decade you turned 18, find the actual year you turned 18 and copy the top songs for that year and paste.

Then bold the ones you liked, strikeout the ones you hated and italicize the ones about which you were neutral. The ones you’ve never heard will stay unformatted.

I love taking trips down memory lane, especially when I’m talking music, because one of my favorite passions is singing and music, if you ask any one of my friends, they’ll tell you that I’m always singing. I swear I can sing good, but I can hold a tune and that’s really all that matters to me. I can sound worst…like my niece, Chloe or something. But since I don’t, I’m just happy for that much. Some of these songs really takes me back, way back in the day when I was actually young.

1. I Don’t Want To Miss a Thing – Aerosmith
2. Everybody (Backstreet’s Back) – Backstreet Boys

3. Jump Jive An’ Wail – Brian Setzer Orchestra
4. I Want You Back – N*Sync
5. The Cup of Life – Ricky Martin
6. Too Close – Next
7. Good Riddance (Time Of Your Life) – Green Day
8. From This Moment On – Shania Twain

9. My Heart Will Go On – Celine Dion
10. Suavemente – Elvis Crespo

Man, I remember when I Don’t Want To Miss A Thing came out, Armeggedon was my favorite movie at the time…and don’t get me started on how many times I watched the Everybody video by Backstreet Boys, I used to love me some Brian Litrell…but no one loved Justin Timberlake more than I did back then, still don’t for that matter and dude, I knew every line, every ooh and every ahhh and every dance move in I Want You Back…that was my jam and NSYNC was my frickin’ band! LOL. The first time I heard From This Moment On by Shania Twain was when my brother in law sang it with his sister for someone’s wedding, he sings really well and I have loved that song ever since. Oh dude, Too Close, that song always makes me laugh and remember The Cup of Life? hahahaha, Ricky Martin…haha.

I love this!

Tagged by Merlin…10 Random Things About Me.

10 02 2007

The rules are: Once you have been tagged you can’t be retagged, you have to write a blog about 10 random things, facts, or habits about yourself. At the end, you choose 10 people to be tagged and list their names. Don’t forget to leave a comment that says “you are tagged” on their profile and tell them to read your latest blog.

Alright, so on with the blog. 10 Random Things About Me, Rowena…or Dylan to some of you.

1. I collect shot glasses from the different places that I go to. I haven’t been all that many places, so I don’t have A LOT A LOT, so then I started collected just different shot glasses from around the world, I don’t care who gets them nowadays…LOL. Grace was kind enough to get me some shot glasses from Canada, Australia so yeah that’s the bomb!

2. I’m the worst procrastinator. I can put off anything and everything for as long as I want, it’s a sickness I tell you.

3. I cannot put a book down until I’ve read the whole chapter. I hate to stop reading in the middle of the chapter, it drives me batty.

4. I’m addicted to rugby. My favorite teams to support are New Zealand, England and Manu Samoa, though I do wholeheartedly support the USA Team too.

5. I know most everything there is to know about Justin Timberlake, I don’t know how I feel about it either.

6. I still have the first 2 dollar bill that I was ever given. I don’t know why.

7. I don’t think Mr. K is cute…at all.

8. My family IS the most important thing to me though sometimes they forget that they are.

9. I can count the people that I’m very close to on one hand and one finger from my other hand.

10. I’m not as nice as some people would believe….ask my friends and nieces.

I’m tagging: Amy, Grace, Jazz, Drake, Charm, Supastar, Nets, Reesa, B Nice, Ralph.

Tag, I’m It!

30 01 2007

Holly tagged just about damn near everyone so I decided to do this here on my personal blog instead of getting 6 different ones on Sanctuary’s Finest…so here’s today’s post.

Contemporary, Historical, or Paranormal?
Right now, I’m all about the Contemps, I think I actually prefer them to historicals, I’ll go through long periods of time when I won’t want to read a historical at all…but I’ve never gotten that way with Contemps, so I’m gonna say Contemps…as for Paranormals, I’m just about burnt out on those things, I need some good ol’ fashioned human on human love right now…haha.

Hardback or Trade Paperback or Mass Market Paperback?
If Trade paperbacks were cheaper I’d prefer those because I just love those things, I have no idea why…I just do. I don’t care for the hardbacks because the cover jackets drive me up the effing wall, but I do love me some mass market paperback, those are always great and cheap, just like me! =)

Heyer or Austen?
Who the heck is Heyer? LOL..Austen, for sure.

Amazon or Brick and Mortar?
Amazon all the way… too true Holly.

Barnes & Noble or Borders?

I prefer B&N because they take care of me over there, it’s the opposite out here Holly, Borders are the jerks and B&N are the cool ones…so for me, B&N all the way…

Woodiwiss or Lindsay?
Lindsay as in Johanna Lindsay? I’d say Lindsay because she wrote the Malory series…*sigh*

First romance novel you ever remember reading?
Judith McNaught’s Something Wonderful…love me some Jordan Townsende…STILL.

Alphabetize by author Alphabetize by title or random?
By author. Then by title, unless there are connecting books, then I put those in order. I’m totally the same way, Holly…totally.

Keep, Throw Away or Sell?

I always keep my books…I can throw away damn near anything but not my books…much to th chagrin of my sister.

Read with dustjacket or remove it?
The dust jacket pisses me off when I’m reading, so I always take it off and put it back on after I’ve read it…it drives me batty.

Sookie Stackhouse or Anita Blake?
Hmm, who the heck are these people?

Stop reading when tired or at chapter breaks?
I’ll keep reading even when I’m tired until I’ve finished the chapter I’m on…it’s a sickness, I know.

“It was a dark and stormy night” or “Once upon a time”?
I don’t care how it starts, as long as the middle bits and the ending are great, I’ll take both!

Crusie or SEP?
Dude that’s really hard as I’m a big fan of both…oh gosh, I can’t choose…and I’m not gonna.

Buy or Borrow?
Buy. I collect books so I have to own the books that I read or I get twitchy and ya’ll don’t want to see me twitchy.

Buying choice: Book Reviews, Recommendation or Browse?
A little of all of those choices. I have a really hard time trying out new authors so if I can avoid it, I probably will…but if I see that my friends are raving about this book and that authors on their blogs, I’ll most definitely be intrigued enough to pick the book up and try it..I’ve also bought a lot of my books just by browsing the bookshelves and talking to people buying books in the bookstore…

Tidy ending or Cliffhanger?
I prefer the tidy endings but if I know there are other books to come after, I’ll eat up the cliffhangers but please authors…all these never ending series is enough to make me gouge my eyes out..

Morning reading, Afternoon reading or Nighttime reading?
I can read all day, everyday, it don’t matter a lick to me.

Series or standalone?
The whole series thing is getting OUT.OF.CONTROL. so I’d really really like a great standalone right about now.

Favorite book of which nobody else has heard?
Hmm, I’d have to think about this and edit later, cause my mind is blank right now.

Let’s see, who to tag? My BBB Ames, Grace, Karen Scott and hmm, Jenster.

ABC’s About Me.

My 5 Most Favorite Cancelled Shows.

12 12 2006

So I totally stole this from Dance Chica, and yes I know that she did this one MONTHS ago, but I’m just now being hip to the game and so I’m deciding to do this now…shoot me why don’t you, sheesh? LOL. I’m a big time TV addict, I know this and so it shouldn’t be a wonder why I want to do this…I dearly miss my cancelled shows, that’s for damn sure.

1. Will and Grace

Okay, I know that technically I shouldn’t miss this show since I watch the reruns of this show practically every night. But gosh, these guys will not make another new Will and Grace episode forEVER and I don’t know how I feel about that because, Just Jack is frickin’ hilarious and then you’ve got Karen Walker who is frickin’ hilarious all on her own and Will and Grace were a good part of the show too, but for me it was all about Jack and Karen. Those two never failed to make me laugh until my sides hurt, like when Jack and Grace go to Jack’s sons dance and then they play his song (Dirty Pop by NSYNC) and he pushes everyone out of the way and starts doing the entire dance routine? And what about when Karen and Jack’s little private handshake? I LOVE IT and I miss watching this on Thursday nights after my #2 favorite cancelled show…

2. Friends

Who doesn’t miss seeing Joey, Phoebe, Monica, Chandler and of course, Ross and Rachel every Thursday night? I mean, this show was frickin’ hilarious. My favorite episode remains the one where they’re watching old videos and then Ross is all embarassed because the video they’re watching is the one where he was going to be Rachel’s Knight in Shining Armor and be her date since stupid Chip stood her up and then he’s all dressed and ready to go and walking down the stairs, only to see Rachel, Monica and their dates (including stupid Chip) running out the door to the dance and then Ross is left there, all desolated on the stairs? Awwwww, so cute! That’s also the one where was it Rachel that asked him, “So what are you going to do this summer?” and he answers, “Oh I don’t know, work on my music?” and he starts playing that song…that 80s song, I don’t know what song it is but I can sing it to ya’ll…LOL. So many funny moments in this show and gosh I miss it something fierce. Why’d they have to take my Friends away from me?

3. Felicity.

I mean seriously? Who DIDN’T love Felicity? I did. I faithfully watched Felicity every week because at first I wanted her to get with Ben because DUH she done followed him so far away from home because she had this massive crush on him, but when Noel came into the picture, I was ALL about Noel and Felicity. I wanted them to be together so bad and even when the show was ending and Felicity was with Ben, I wanted her to end up with Noel. I was a Noel girl all the way and was torn because I really did like Ben too. Ben was such a cutie patootie but it was all about Noel. He was the better one for Felicity and when the evil Hannah (Jennifer Garner) came into the picture and tempted Noel away from Felicity I was so pissed, I wanted to smash her fingers on the damn piano she played so flawlessly, yeah whatever Mulu got you, you aint got nothing on Mulu…ehh. Sometimes I wish this show never got cancelled because this was us our sister show, we always watched this show together and so I’ll always remember this show as Delene bringing the snacks, Helen cleaning up our watching space and me and Blanche (the oldest and the youngest) just coming into the room as Felicity started, ahhhh good times, good times.

4. Related

Damn I miss this show. I thought it was so good, it was such fun to watch this show about 4 sisters that were so different and yet so close. I loved watched them fight and quarrel but get each other’s back then hug and make up while they all cried for the other. I was right there with them, crying and cheering and just acting a damn fool. I was crushed because I wanted to find out what happened between Anne and Danny, because they were my favorite couple. I thought Danny was such a cutie patootie and then I was dying to find out what happened with Ginnie and Bob, if they made it through their difference, if their marriage survived their hard times (I was really hoping they did) and then I wanted to find out what happened with Margie and her romance with what was his name, Jason? And then there was Rose…Rose and Joel. Gosh I was so rootin’ Joel on, and then when Rose chose stupid Alex over him and then Joel got his own girl and forgot about Rose, ooohhh the drama…I loved it! Gosh I miss this show!

5. Summerland

This was the one show that came on during the summer nights when all of our other favorite shows were on hiatus and man I was wrapped up in Ava’s whole world of fashion, family and partnership drama. I loved watching this show and I miss it a whole lot. I miss hottie Johnny and Ava covering their feelings for each other, I miss Jay and his stupidness always ruining his relationship with Ericka and I miss the black lady, I forget what her name was on here, but I missed her. She was really kick ass, and man her love interest, that Dylan guy, man he was hot stuff! I miss Nikki and Cameron…remember Cameron, who later became hella famous for his role as Troy Bolton in Disney’s High School Musical? This was my feel good show on Monday nights before they booted the show after just the second season.

Alright, there are my favorite cancelled shows, what are yours?

6 Weird Things About Me.

9 12 2006

Okay so a couple of days ago, Izzy tagged me to list 6 Weird things about me that ya’ll don’t know, so here’s my attempt at that.

1. I will not eat any kind of white sauce, but my favorite sandwiches are tuna sandwiches. Oh and I can kill a homemade potato salad.

Yeah, I know..isn’t that the most retarded thing you’ve ever heard of? I kid you not, I hate Ranch and can only eat it sparingly in my green salads, I hate Tartar sauce, buttermilk and whatever else sauce is out there, I will not eat a sandwich or a hamburger if it’s got mayo slathered on it, I have to take it out or I start to gag while I’m eating.

2. I refuse to go anywhere by myself.

This is most retarded because I will drive fifteen minutes OUT OF MY WAY to pick Mulu up just so that I can have someone with me when I go to the store, go to the movies, go ANYWHERE, Its not that I’m scared to go by myself, I just hate going anywhere by myself.

3. I will NOT wear pants that come up to my ankles.

And I hate when other people wear tapered pants. It bugs the crap out of me like I can control what others wear. I just hate it.

4. I have to carry at least 2 different books with me whenever I leave my house.

This is weird because I’ll take out things I NEED to take with me so that both of my books will fit into my purse and if I forget to put the books in my purse, I’m all kinds of irritated when I show up at wherever I’m supposed to show up at.

5. When I’m baking, I HAVE to put the oil in at the VERY LAST minute.

Or I’ll start all over. I cannot stand when someone puts oil before they put in the other wet ingredients and use the same measuring cup. After the oil’s been in the cup, I hate the oily, slippery surface inside the measuring cup and even though I can wash the cup myself, it pisses me off and I’ve got to start all over again. Bugs my nieces every damn time, but they’ve learned. LOL.

6. I always laugh at other people when they trip, fall, throw up, or make an ass of themselves.

Even when people get hurt, my instinctive reaction is to laugh. You would think that my initial reaction would be to run over and help them, but nope..I’m horrible, I’ll laugh first and then after I’ve gotten my laugh out will I go over and ask whoever got hurt, made an ass of themselves or threw up if they need help and it’s not uncommon that I’m STILL laughing while I’m offering to help. Horrible, I know, but I can’t help it.

And there you go, 6 weird things about me. Now you know.

I’m tagging: Ralph, B Nice, Jen (Supasta), Reesa, Drake.

Next up is my 6 Favorite Christmas songs…

I like teeny bopper songs, I like Top 40 Hits, I even like Boy Bands and I’m proud of it, I’m not going to hide it, so don’t be surprised that most of my favorite Christmas songs are sung by Boy Bands, Teeny Bopper Princesses and whoever else rocks my socks. LOL.

1. O Holy Night sung by NSYNC.

I frickin’ love this song, I saw them in concert 3 times and the first time I saw them, they sang this song and I just loved it to pieces! It’s been my favorite song since.

2. All I Want For Christmas by Mariah Carey.

This song rocks my socks, always has now sing it with me…I don’t want a lot for Christmas, there is just one thing I need, I don’t care about the presents underneath the Christmas tree, I just want you for my own…more than you can ever know, make my wish come true…all I want for Christmas is You… See? Don’t you like it? Good.

3. Silent Night sung by The Temptations.

This song reminds me of my brother, Pete. This is his favorite song and he would always sing it during the holidays around the house. It’s always fun to hear him sing and this song is a good one.

4. My Only Wish This Year by Britney Spears.

This song reminds me of baking Christmas desserts in San Diego with my sister. It’s one of those songs that used to drive all the men crazy but us women loved it. I’ve got good memories to go with this song and the song is pretty catchy…haha.

5. Ua Mafaufau, I don’t remember the name of this song… sung by the Nu’umau Ward Choir.

This is a Samoan song that as a child, I used to listen to my parents sing with our Church Choir, it’s one of those powerful songs that you just love to listen too…I love listening to Zions Voice singing this song, because it reminds me of old school Nu’umau, when Ralph, your Mom used to sing the highest part EVER and *sigh* My Christmas was never complete without hearing this song…it’s just one of those songs.

6. Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays by NSYNC.

Oh gosh, Hey Tita, remember when we did this song for the Relief Society Closing Social? I’M JUSTIN!!! LOL…dude we even had the dance down pat for this one, oh I love it! We’ve been waiting, all year for this night, and the snow is glistening on the trees outside, and all the stockings are hung by the fireside, waiting for Santa to arrive… HA! I love it!

..and there you. My favorite Christmas songs.

I tag: Ralph, B Nice, Supasta, Reesa and Drake
